Spotted: Boot and Saddle returns, fully restored and brighter than ever
It’s been a while since the iconic Boot and Saddle sign has seen the light of day–or night for that matter.
In May, the sign on the rebooted bar and music venue was taken down for restoration. It made a brief reappearance in June, only to disappear once again. Over the weekend, the fully restored sign was reinstalled, lighting up Broad Street brighter than ever before.
Len Davidson, who has completed thousands of neon projects and is the collector behind the Philadelphia Neon Museum, was the man behind the restoration. He’s responsible for restoring other landmark signs, including for the Reading Terminal Market’s sign at 12th and Arch.
One of the main stipulations by the South Broad Street Neighbors Association when Boot and Saddle was reopening in 2013 was that the sign must be restored, in addition to other agreements regarding things like noise and crowd control. With the completion of this restoration, it seems as though all things are good to go for this music venue and bar.

Props to the operators of the Boot & Saddle! I’ll stop buy to have a meal and show some support to a decent business.
I love the Boot and Saddle, it’s like an authentic dive bar, but with a high cover charge so you know, you don’t actually have to drink alongside poor and blue collar “non creative” types, or get stabbed by them.
I have literally never paid a cover charge to get in, and they have a great happy hour and decent small-medium name shows
There’s never a cover for the bar or front room. Only for the shows in the back.
Exactly. Plus their ticket prices for shows are completely reasonable. It’s a great place!
I think they may be thinking of the Dolphin.
