Little Spoon Cafe, Bing Bing Dim Sum honored in Community Design Collaborative Storefront Challenge
A South Street West cafe and an East Passyunk Avenue restaurant were among the winners in the Community Design Collaborative’s 2016 Storefront Challenge. The bi-yearly competition highlights how these more recent businesses are working to transform their spaces, creating curb appeal across the city.
Two South Philly businesses came out as winners of this year’s awards. Little Spoon Cafe, located at 1500 South St., and Bing Bing Dim Sum at 1638 E. Passyunk Ave., were both honored.
Little Spoon Cafe won for “Best deSign” for its eye-popping signage. Bing Bing Dim Sum won in the category “Lemons to Lemonade,” for the transformation of hard-to-utilize location with outdoor seating.
Amelie’s Barkshop, Mercer Cafe at the Navy Yard, Sate Kampar and Infinite Body Piercings all were South Philly finalists in the categories of “Bang for the Buck,” “Extreme Makeover,” “Nightlife” and “Honor the Past.” PlanPhilly has the full list of winners.
