Proposed medical-marijuana dispensary coming to East Passyunk?
When Pennsylvania put the word out that licenses to grow, process, and distribute medical marijuana was being considered, hundreds of prospective entrepreneurs and dedicated professionals responded. With only 12 grower licenses and 27 dispensary permits being issued state-wide, many would be denied. However, after passing a critical zoning hurdle on March 20th, Jesse Coscia was granted permission to proceed with a proposed dispensary at 1125 E. Passyunk Ave., just blocks from the Italian Market.
Over the last three weeks, L&I granted permits for proposed dispensaries at 915 N. Front St., 1125 E. Passyunk Ave., 8319 Stenton Ave., 1201 Walnut St., 460 N. Second St., and 114 N. Third St., Guss said.
The agency also approved a permit for a proposed marijuana-growing facility at 3100 N. 17th St., home to hometown-favorite chocolate Easter egg manufacturer Zitner’s.
The Zitner permit applies to a section of the 108,000-square-foot industrial building owned by a Zitner Candy Corp. affiliate, according to L&I records. – Philly.com
Now don’t get your hopes up just yet, this is just the beginning of what will surely be a battle among residents and the Federal government.
A pot store a block down from in Pat’s & Gino’s(stoner food for Jersey kids) is going to wreck havoc on that neighborhood’s already poor parking. I’m glad its on an accessible route like EPA but that is a tough spot
If this location doesn’t work out, they should consider 420 Tree St
Lol. Parking is always the only issue in South Philly
420 Tree St.! Lol…when they get incredibly popular maybe they’ll be able to take over the lot across the street where they used to sell crabs.
