Fleisher Art Memorial’s ‘Imagination Grove’ installed on Queen Street Tunnel
The Queen Street Tunnel between Front and Swanson Streets is just another tunnel, without much visual appeal. Fleisher Art Memorial, in partnership with the Queen Village Neighbors Association, has decided to change that.
Over the weekend students, staff and volunteers of Fleisher worked to install the artworks created through the various programs at Fleisher, in addition to those made at the ARTspiration event earlier this month.
The project brought together artists Pat Aulisio, Marie Elcin, and Mriam Singer to create large-scale drawings and screen prints with students of “fantastical creatures, fanciful flora and fauna, and whimsical dreamscapes that celebrate the imagination.” These artworks were then wheatpasted onto the walls of the tunnel on Saturday.
