Yo, Data! See grants awarded by the PWD citywide

Yo, Data is an occasional feature by tech whiz and South Philly resident Angela Minster, in which she crunches the numbers and makes ’em all nice and pretty. Know of any data sets you can customize to South Philly? Let us know at punk@passyunkpost.com.

Recently we wrote about stormwater improvements in Dickinson Square Park. One way the Philadelphia Water Deparment sponsors projects like these is by awarding grants to civic groups to “help maintain the beauty and functionality of green stormwater infrastructure.”

This map shows grant recipient locations throughout the city.

Both the Newbold Community Development Corporation and the Passyunk Square Civic Association have been awarded grants totaling $10,000 and $4,993 respectively.

Commercial property owners can also apply for grants to improve existing stormwater management and incorporate green initiatives in new building construction. South Philly businesses have been awarded $1.92 million.
